Great desserts! Carrot cake best ever. Loved the lake perch. Salad was fresh. Kids really liked the fettuccini. Got super busy at 6pm on Friday - recommend reservations. Frog legs were good, but fried and would have preferred sautéed.

Great place on the river! Versatile menu and an added bonus that if you don't see something on the menu, just ask and they'll see what they can do. One of the people with me customized her salad creating an entirely different item than what was on the menu. We were seated by the windows and loved getting to watch the water. Our server was named Melissa, just like me, and she was super friendly and made good recommendations.

The best part about this restaurant is the view overlooking the river. Was really disappointed when we found out the prime rib was a recook, and didn't have the cook of medium rare what we prefer. and to top that all off it was a special of the day and at a ridiculous high price! At least cut the price of the prime rib if you can't get it the way you prefer. Overpriced food and the place was gloomy and needed a good cleaning... The best part about this place is the location.

Nobody knows where the hell Mottville is...until you mention Jaywalker, our claim to fame. Then it's "Oh, sure!" I'm relatively new to the area but I've heard this place has a storied history under various names and owners, not all good. However the gal who runs it now seems to get it, and the weekend parking lot is normally full. The menu selections are upscale for this zip code (Grouper Sandwich, excuse me?), but folks will drive quite a way for just that reason. I've worked my way through about half their menu and haven't had a disappointing entree yet. The riverfront setting is beautiful. Give it a try next time you're in Mottville (huh? where?) :)

We stopped here today (Sunday 8/30/15) around 2:00pm to get a bite and take a break from the road trip. As others have said, the view is outstanding. We even saw and eagle cruising the river! The food, on the other hand, was horrible. I ordered the french dip and a cup of coffee. The server brought the coffee quick enough, but had to make two more trips for the creamer and a spoon. The coffee was old. 4 creamers did nothing but change the color to grey, and the creamer was old enough I had cream floaties in the coffee. Bad coffee, very bad coffee and acidic. The food came fairly fast and was hot but the first bite was ALL fat. I opened the sandwich and started trimming fat from the meat, but when the pile of fat became greater than the pile of meat from just half the sandwich I gave up and sent the entire order back. I settled for a handful of Tums and a bottle of water (from the car). Karen's turkey wrap was: "OK but not great. Not bad, just meh." Bottom line: The service was at best so so, the french dip was disgusting, and the prices were very high. We will not be stopping here again. Ever.

Prices have gone up quite a bit in the last year but still good quality food. Jalapeño cheese balls are the best you'll have in the area. The service is okay but the great view makes up for it.

What a great place to eat! Great atmosphere and has choices for all of those picky people in your life. We Called ahead and got a reservation for Saturday night. We all had something different off the menu and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Between the Filet, prime rib, ribs and pasta we didn't have a complaint! Great service and a decent bar. Can't wait to take others there to enjoy the food!

This is an awesome place for a quiet dinner by the river. We stopped after seeing the reviews on yelp and was not disappointed. Huge portions and great quality. I don't like coleslaw but left nothing behind of the fresh coleslaw I got as a side. My wife got the fish tacos and left nothing behind, not too spicy but had a subtle heat. Huge pile of sweet potato fries and they were really great. Every thing seemed home made and nothing prepackaged.

Stopped in for an early dinner on Saturday. Food was delicious! Everything tasted home made, which is hard to find around here. The view was priceless, and the staff friendly and upbeat.

We were passing through the area and needed a nice lunch place for our group of 6 people. Jaywalker was a fantastic choice. The other reviews did not let us down. Everyone's food was terrific. Between us we had the fish, cheeseburger, taco salad, fried green beans, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and more. Service was friendly, and the view out the window was great. They also have a well-stocked bar, which we didn't take advantage of. However, since we were on a road trip we took advantage of the clean bathrooms. Like everyone else says - the building's outside is rather plain, but the food and view inside more than make up for it.

I've had lunch several times now at the Jaywalker. I like all of their burgers, even the veggie burger is quite good. Perhaps the best feature of the restaurant is the location... right on the river. Very serene and nice to be able to look out at it during a nice lunch and good conversation.

Came here today specifically for the Prime Rib. It was just ok today. Ordered the large portion medium, it was more like medium well. The waitress was not even sure about serving it...I didn't send it back, but I have had it better here. Good flavor, good au jus, good salad. When I asked if they had a house dressing, Jessica said Ranch. I usually opt for a viniagrette, but this Ranch was really good. The other option is homemade cole-slaw - it was a hit! My companions ordered whitefish - one cajun, one lemon pepper and one pesto salmon. They were all happy with their choices. What made the day was our waitress, Jessica. Fast, efficient & friendly. We were there celebrating a birthday, she took pictures for us and joined in, but gave us a lot of time to gab as well. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!

My husband and I have eaten here before but today the service and food was horrible. The waitress was slow getting our order and the restaurant was not busy al all. No personality and her t-shirt was dirty. Appetizer was not hot. We waited 40 minutes for a salad and pulled pork sandwich in a almost empty restaurant. The grilled chicken salad was sub par to say the least. Pre-grill marks and cold chicken probably just taken out of frig. Was never asked for another drink. When I told waitress it was not good, and I did not eat it, noting taken off bill. We had enjoyed stopping there on our way back from Michigan but will never do that again. Don't waste your time or money.

Stopped by for lunch. Rather bland exterior but do NOT let that deter you. We dined on the deck overlooking the river, great view,of the bridged and waved to people floating by on the river. Wife ordered buffalo chix wrap. She ask for it to be grilled instead of crispy fried. They were more than willing. It was large sized and tasty. Her cut fries were just like the ones you get at a good fair vendor. I ordered the Pork Wings. Wow! The most measly pork shanks I have ever had. The bbq sauce was Excellent and complimented the smoked flavor of the pork. Huge portion. I had the sweet potato fries which were well seasoned and came with a Dijon mustard sauce. Vey good. Oh, and it came with a,nice side of cole slaw. I truly recommend you visit this place for tasty food and big portions. Only negative is no good selection of craft beers.

We LOVE Jaywalker!!! Fantastic service, whether you're at the bar or a table, fantastic view and some of the best food in Michigan. Pulled pork sandwich is my personal fave. I wish we lived closer - we'd go every week. As others have said, don't let the exterior fool you. This is a solid restaurant that's worth stopping by when you're in the area.

Very good food in a scenic setting on the river. When you first look at the menu you might think you are just going to get regular bar food- but this is much better than that. Have had nearly everything on the menu and it has all been very good. Great ribs. Fish taco special is outstanding and should be a regular choice. Smashed potatoes are very good. Excellent fried chicken (but it takes a few extra minutes.) Steaks are good, too. The place itself is nothing fancy but Jody is a great 'hands-on' owner with a good staff - and she wants to know if anything is not right. A gem in an out of the way location.

I had a very good grouper sandwich there just after 11 am opening. A wonderful view of the St Joe River. For fans of the history of US highways you look out on the 1920s "camelback" bridge that served US12 until a newer bridge was built. You can walk across the bridge, enjoy the view, take pictures. Good food and the history of good civil engineering. A great combo.
